The Time Draws closer are you ready?

This picture really just says all it needs to, we all know where it comes from.  We all know what it means.  Metal Gear Solid is a Saga that will be with us for many more years,  MGS4 was like no other MGS made to date.  Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be interesting but only for those who have the PSP in which is needed to play it.  We know though that MGS will be back to PS3 in a few years when the next game is thought over and made into a brilliant masterpiece.

I just have to say i love this picture so much, you can see why can’t you?  Reminds me of Mirrors Edge for some reason, with the sorta fast motion  kinda going on (though i know its just photo shopped to be like that)  Thought i just share it with you, hope you do like it.

A game made for the masses, you are in control a ship, one of many from World War II.  You can be a Capitan of a British, American, Japanese or German ship, each nation’s ships have their advantages and disadvantages but its what you make of those disadvantages to make them your advantage.  Equip your ship with a variety of guns, torpedoes and sea mines.

Not sure really what i should say about this game?  Rounds are generally 8 – 100+ ships on a large sea map and its what ever side that has ships left that win, you get credit and points which you can then spend on upgrades and new sailors which determine how well you ship performs.  There are 8 Classes of ships from the tiniest Frigates and Submarines to the biggest Battleships and Aircraft carriers which are capable of causing mass destruction and would be what decides victory or defeat for a particular side.

Summer isn’t all kind to us here in New Zealand so it does mean my ability to write is impaired which i am sorry for <.<

This game is designed for those with a good computer and for those who just love WWII,  it brings a good aspect to WWII games which isn’t explored that much which is naval battles they are usually Ground of Air based games which are also good in their own right but nothing can compare to a good naval games, cause really there aren’t many of them that have real in depth game play as Navy Field does.  Do check it out and give me your opinion on it

I am not sure what 2010 and onwards will bring in the development of video games but I am sure that there will always people out there playing the next generational game and it will be up to us and the developers to decide what that will be, could be MAG and its massive online battles?  Could be Final Fantasy XIII and its well cut CGI? Could be Warriors: Legends of Troy, simply cause there are so many Brad Pitt Fans out there.   No but seriously we won’t know till we see it, its a hard claim to make that a game will define a generation.  Pac Man defined 1980′s Gamers,  1990′s would widly contested between Final Fantasy VII, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken and so many more.  2000′s would be even more difficult with the hundreds of games released in the last 10 years but you will be sure people will be saying Rune Scape and World of Warcraft deserve a placing up the top.  You be the judge.

But really I am really looking forward to this game, (tho I will need to upgrade and get a very powerful desktop cause of the games real heavy requirements to place efficiently)   One of the greatest Generals of all time who wouldn’t wanna follow in his footsteps and relive his great campaigns of Italy and Egypt.  Many games over have been about this great man but will Total War really live up to  it?  I believe so, each Total War Game has topped the last one and with the New AI it would be the closest thing to being there on the Battlefield fighting for Emperor and Country!

But seriously So many people are waiting for this game to come out and for those lucky buggers around the world who can speak Japanese would have already played it and raved about it so much, just gotta wait till the English version comes out and then there will be millions of happy Geeks around the world =D

Really I do not have to say much cause FFXIII really just speak for itself.  Watched the opening very nice =P

Heavy Rain

The day Fahrenheit came out I brought it and played it over and over and over again and each time I played it , it was like playing a completely different game every time, which more than enjoyable and meant those lonely hours at home did not go to waste.  Heavy Rain will surely impress and for all the wait we have endured and when we play it, it will mean many many days of playing to go through each different path the game will take and how one simple decision can change the entire outcome of what the game will be in the end.

David Cage is a genius in his own field and when the sure to be success of the game cements him as one of the great game makers of our time and we will eagerly await his next big game.

How far are you willing to go to save someone you love?

Supremacy 1914, I can say I did stumble onto this game on accident, I was randomly surfing the net, ended up on one of those “Vote for best game” type sites and near the top of the entries i saw this game, it looked interesting so I signed up, 267 days later i am still here.

My Nation that I controlled happened to be Russia which for the games sake was my favorite country so I stuck with it and joined up to many other matches and have had a lot of fun succeeding as a leader of a solid nation. I find the interface of the game pretty neat with the use of the Daily European for news and other events throughout Europe something which lacks in other games of this type. The ability to trade with other nations or at times stave them a trade Embargo is quite fun as you see what lengths some players would go to get those much needed resources.

The Administartion of S1914 seem rather friendly a German made game (I think would need clarity on that part) where has no bias on sides and in a normal round of the game all sides of the playable nations are made equal and its when you enter a Gold round you do see the differences, where by Russia spans 21 Territory’s, Germany is the Industrial Capital of Europe, etc etc, but with every good game i do spot a few things that could be alerted and Improved, what use would it be to say the game is great full stop, times change, games improve and this will be one of the games that will be around in 20 years time as its also a way in which to educate people of one of The Great Wars of the past and all the millions of lives lost in such a bloody conflict.

I see the naming of some Nations, for example Russia, you have The German Empire as it is but why not Russia as ‘The Russian Empire’ it was indeed an Empire which spanned over a great distance the biggest single European Country, in fact the biggest nation in the world, its just me i just notice little things and question why that is like that, of course probably been someone on the forum ask that already and I do not need to be a ‘n00b’ and ask something probably been questioned countless times. The Varing Provincial sizes of Russia bothers me also, attacking from Sweden took me 19 hours to reach the province that was the next province over from where i was, of course Russia is big, cold, and just barren but still a long time in which to invade them.

In a way this is a review of my own experiences of the game but also to tell anyone who reads this about the game, once you sign up your away controlling a nation 120,000 Men Strong divided into 120 Divisions, you can go straight go into attacking and expanding or you can sit back construct a few recruitment centers, get a few more troops and be a late bloomer, these players are really hard to contend with unless you have greatly expanded and have 30 odd provinces bringing in troops daily.

I find using battleships the funnest part just blowing apart units with them not being able to hit you, I have yet to construct a Rail Gun and still am 1 day off till my first one is Completed in Morocco. I might update this post just wanted to share a great game with you guys, sign up

Long before 3D games ruled our computer screens there was a game like no other, a game that changed a generation forever, a game where the lives of hundreds of people was in your hands, a game called Sim Tower….

Why do I talk about a game from 1994? Because I can really, but also because even after 16 years after its release, I find this game more enjoyable than a lot of today’s modern flashy games. The ability to freely build your tower as you want, hire security, create Hotel Suites, build a Theatre, dining room and so much more, 100 Stories high with a Cathedral as your finishing touch and your life feels complete. Of course I am not religious and really you can rename the building as you wish with the script editor.

The Game can play on almost any computer needing only and 4MB of RAM and with such minimalistic graphics requirements you can dust off your old Windows 95 or Macintosh computer load her up and you be set. Developed by Maxis the game of course by today’s standards would be considered dead and buried but for those people who loved what the 90s brought in terms of games, you will continue to play this for years to come and I encourage you to have a look also. I like to see Maxis remake this game with a more 3D aspect to it where you could be right inside the building controlling the “Tower Owner” or other people and really have a look and see where all your work went. Who doesn’t love a Tower Fire or Terrorist bomb? Adding more scenarios into the game would also be cool, make a seaside tower could be lose its lower floors to a Tidal Wave or something to that effect.

Whatever happens I guess its up to Maxis, there are some diehard fans such as myself out there waiting for that day they announce a remake just let it be one day soon, Games like Sim Tower only come around once every once and blue moon. So the next time your bored with not a lot to do, take a crack at building your own Tower, say who can live where, open businesses, car parks, Trash facilities even (gotta stay clean and green). Infest your rooms with Cockroaches (and have those adorable maids come and clear them for you). Continue to climb till you reach the very top and maybe Santa will fly by on Christmas Eve and you are rewarded for all your efforts with 5 Stars.

It’s almost a year to the day I began my real life as a MMORPG gamer, console devices were  just not cutting it like they used to, so I decided I wanted a change, and for the better.  A few days of searching and I come across a game known as Cybernations, to put it simply its a text based game where you are in control of a nation and you have a population of civilians and soldiers who pay you taxes, where that money can be spent on further developing your nation.

It wasn’t flashy like other MMORPG’s I have played like Battledawn for example, but the ability to control an entire nation where you could select a national Government, a Religion for your people to follow and build great “Wonders” to show that you are indeed the best really did appeal to me so I further enquired into the game and I am still here playing a year later.

There is an intense Role Play aspect to the game, you can be part of an Alliance who collectively work together and fight together and Governments for these Alliances established in which to pick the right person to become President or Emperor or King or whatever you wish to call your Leader, some alliances used the Triumvirate system once used in The Roman Empire and have 3 People who acted as Leaders of a said Alliance.  There can be any number of “Ministries” established to perform said duties that any real life government could so there is a place for everyone from Foreign Affairs to Propaganda to Finance so it is a good place for people of any age to test their skills in a chosen area.

This game incorporates a very nice war system where you are able to launch ground invasions of Soldiers and Tanks, fight from the sea with a variety of Naval Vessels, take the fight to the skies with an impressive Air force, or hit them where it hurts using Cruise Missiles, Spies and even Nuclear Weaponry capable of wiping out entire armies and turning the tide in any war.

There has been “World War’s” in which Hundreds of Alliances engaged in warfare on a grand scale, and the latest World War known as the “Karma War” completely changed the face of the Cybernation’s ‘leadership’, the top Alliance Known as the New Pacific Order (NPO for short)  part of the Grand Collation known as The Hegemony faced with more than double the combatants calling themselves Karma, NPO attacked on all fronts was defeated and was known as the top Alliance of all time with more than 20 Million National Strength lost more than 14 Million of that to the forces of Karma and like when Germany Lost WWI they had to pay severe reparations to the Karma Collation for the damages caused by the war.  War may not always be pretty but if you come out on top its worth all those nights staying up.

If an alliance proves their worth and is able to crawl up the rankings and make it into the top 12 Alliances there is the possibility of becoming “Sanctioned” and enabling the Alliance to submit a Flag so all their Members can fly their flag and not a normal Countries flag or other Sanctioned Image which you can really only pick from.  Game play is very simple, and for people with busy lives all you need is 5 minutes of your time and your nation is fine till the next day.  There are countless guides out there and Alliances ready to help you if you sign up, you can go out make your own Alliance and do what you want.

The possibility on Cybernation’s is almost limitless, War, Peace, Trade, Aid, Army, Government, Coup, Revolution, Alliance’s, Forums, Role Play, Treaties, Nuclear, and so much more.  From my experiences from playing  (and I did have to start my nation again, commonly known as Re-Rolling) it is a game really worth playing so I employ you to check it out sometime and who knows, maybe I’ll see you on the Battlefield.

Surely, I thought, a game being advertised with obviously expensive marketing ploys at its helm, would quite likely be a decent game to have a look at. Well after a quick peak I am not so sure.

Signing up and getting the game rolling is very easy, no problems there, the game screen is interesting but it took a little time to figure out what the heck I was actually meant to be doing, which I found  a little frustrating. I know that there is always learning curves when trying out a new game but with Evony, well lets just say I sat looking at the screen for quite a while just reading….not much game play in the first 15 mins.

The one thing that quickly became apparent is that this game is targeted to be a money spinner. To really get anywhere in the game, to look cool, be cool, be prepared to spend lots of money. We aren’t talking millions of your hard earned money here, its a more like $40 green backs or whatever currency you use in your country to have it exchanged into Evony play money, but each item you purchase with play money eats away at your initial investment of your hard earned cash.

Now I don’t have an issue with their system, I am quite happy to spend money on games, but it would be easy to stack up how much money you have spent on a game like this, and makes me wonder is it really value for what you pay? I personally don’t think it is a value for money game, and I haven’t wanted to stick around to play Evony, but then again, I was brought up on Runescape, an awesome MMORPG in my opinion and I have been happy to pay the few dollars a month subscription which allows players to access almost an endless supply of interesting fun, its a low key, go where you want and do what you want if you put the time in kind of game, as long as you have paid your monthly amount or you can just settle on playing for free and wait patiently for game updates.

As for me though, I think Runescape is my flavor and I will leave Evony to someone else who is happy with a pay as you go basis.
